Kate Ferguson

Kate Martin Ferguson graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Santa Clara University in Santa Clara, California, in 1978. She received a Master of Arts degree in English from the University of Oklahoma in 2004.  

Her teaching experience includes high school English at Notre Dame High School in San Jose, California, English as a Second Language at the English Language Center in Edmond, Oklahoma, Spanish at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic School in Oklahoma City, and Freshman Composition at both Redlands Community College and the University of Oklahoma. She also taught technical writing and a film discussion group at OU.  In addition, Ms. Ferguson worked for The Economy Company/McGraw-Hill School Division for four years. While there, she edited and wrote parts of elementary school reading texts, high school literature texts, and a high school drama text.  

She started teaching at Harding Charter Prep in the fall of 2004. For eleven years Ms. Ferguson was English Department Chair, and for ten of those years taught Advanced Placement English Language and Composition. In February of 2015, she was recognized by the College Board Southwestern Region for her contributions to AP teaching. In July 2015, she moved to the position of 9th and 10th Grade Academic Adviser. In July 2016, she took over the position of 11th and 12th Grade Academic and College Adviser, and AP Coordinator.
