Is Harding Charter Preparatory a comprehensive High School?
Yes we offer orchestra, band,six foreign languages, drama, all sports except for football and wrestling.

Is Harding Charter Preparatory a free and public High School?
Yes enrollment is open to any student. A charter school cannot qualify students for enrollment, the student must apply. If the student is already an Oklahoma City School district resident, there is not transfer required. If the student is not an Oklahoma City Public School district resident they must receive a transfer from that district.

How is a charter school funded?
Charter school funding is the same as any other publicly funded Oklahoma school.  We are paid based upon students in attendance.  We supplement our budget with funding from grants and private foundations. We have also received donations from:

  • Chesapeake Energy
  • Cox Cable
  • OU Health Science Center
  • Inasmuch Foundation
  • Ethics and Excellence in Journalism
  • Kerr Foundation
  • Kilpatrick Foundation
  • and many other corporations and personal donations.

Are students required to wear a uniform?
Yes all students are required to abide by the Harding Charter Preparatory High School dress code, which requires students to wear a uniform.

Are parents required to do community service hours?
Yes, parents are required to do 25 community service hours to the school.

Who is the Governance Board for Harding Charter Preparatory High School?

What is the average class size?
Our average class size is between 20-24 students per class. The student teacher ratio at Harding is 15 to 1.

What is the college prep curriculum?
Our mission is to provide an academically challenging curriculum based on Advanced Placement rigorous course enabling our graduates to attend any four-year university of their choice.

  • Research has shown students who take a rigorous curriculum are more
    successful on college entrance exams
  • All classes are either Pre-Advanced Placement or Advanced Placement
  • We teach strategies to enable students to be successful in these courses such as Cornell Note Taking.

Where is Harding Charter Prep ranked among other High Schools?
In 2009 Harding Charter Prep was ranked 193 by Newsweek among the top 1,500 public high schools in the nation. The top 1500 are only 6% of all public schools in the nation.
