Award-winning Books

Sequoyah Award - Click here for Oklahoma's own book awards. This year three awards will be given, for Children's (grades K-5), Intermediate (grades 6-8), and High School literature (grades 9-12). Check out the list of nominees and get ready to cast your vote each March.

The Michael L. Printz Award - This award is given by the American Library Association each year to the best book for young adults.

The Award for Excellence in Nonfiction for Young Adults - This award was established in 2010 by the Young Adult Library Services Association (YALSA) to recognize exceptional nonfiction written for teens. Check out this link to nominate your favorite nonfiction book of the year.

More awards from the ALA - This link will take you to all the American Library Association's awards for children and young adults, including awards given to graphic novels, audio books, and more!

We are always adding new books to our library!  Check the library displays for this month's books, or ask  Ms. Moore for help locating a title. If a book you want is not in at the moment, we can place a hold on it for you and notify you when it is returned.

Reading Rants - Sick of the same old reading lists? This site contains a wide variety of "out of the ordinary" reading lists grouped by genre, topic, and year.

TeenReads - A site with tons of information including book reviews, lists of which books are coming out soon, details about your favorite authors, and more.  Be sure to look at their Ultimate Reading List!

What should I read next? - Enter a book (or books) you liked and get a list of more books you might enjoy.

HCP Library on Goodreads - This social network is a great way to find authors' webpages, other readers with similar tastes to yours, reading lists, and online book clubs.

Do you have a book recommendation for our library?

Ms. Moore values your input!  If you want to suggest a book you'd like the library to purchase, you have several options.  Send a message (via email, facebook, or the "Contact Me" link this site) or write your recommendation on the form at the media center desk.

Please try to include as much information about the book as you can (author, title, series) and your name, so she can contact you if she gets the book.
